Protecting Wildlife
It is the vision of Yorkshire Wildlife Park to become a dynamic conservation centre, working with communities at home and around the world to help save habitats and wildlife. People can save animals, save habitats and save communities. We hope to work with conservationists and with educators in the small way that we can, and maybe that will help make a difference, somewhere, in some way, however small. Some of the animals you may see at Yorkshire Wildlife Park may not exist in the wild in years to come. The African Hunting Dog is the most endangered carnivore in Africa and the three species of lemur (Brown, Black and White Ruffed and Brown) are all endangered in their Madagascan homeland. Wildlife Parks and Zoos around Europe work together to maintain populations of animals that are endangered in the wild.

Sustainability statement We at Yorkshire Wildlife Park are visited by thousands of visitors every year, have resolved the following. We are uniquely placed to communicate with and to influence large numbers of people and can seek to inspire and influence individuals to change (for the better) their attitudes and behaviour towards the natural environment and its sustainable conservation We also try to help enable our visitors to practise a more sustainable lifestyle, thereby reducing their ecological footprints YWP is committed to promoting and practising sustainable one planet living. YWP will do this through: Calling upon it staff and members to lead by example and introduce sustainable practices wherever possible Communicating key information on sustainable practices and environmental management systems to our visitorsEncouraging our staff to promote sustainable living to visitors through appropriate training.

Working with guidance from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, at Yorkshire Wildlife Park we aim to increase the natural biodiversity on site here British wildlife is important too! Yorkshire Wildlife Park is on the site of Brockholes Farm (Brock is an old word for `badger) and there are badgers here as well as buzzards, owls, woodpeckers and a whole host of other birds and animals. Find out more about your native wildlife from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust by visiting http://www.ywt.org.uk/

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park invites you to become part of our family through our Adopt an Animal Program. Adopting an animal at Yorkshire Wildlife Park helps us to care for our animals and continue our conservation work. Adoptions make a great gift especially for those who want to be part of our park (or you could treat yourself!)
